How does the planner calculate machine counts with fractional remainders?

The solver computes exact machines as TargetRate / (RecipeRate * ClockSpeed). If fractional, it calculates the ceil integer count and assigns the remainder percentage as the clock speed for the final machine (e.g. 2.4 Assemblers = 2 at 100% + 1 at 40%).

Why does prioritizing alternate recipes reduce raw ore consumption?

Alternate recipes unlocked from hard drives often replace complex intermediate products. For instance, Casted Screw eliminates the Iron Rod step entirely, and Solid Steel Ingot triples steel yield per iron ore input.

How does the tool handle fluid byproducts like Heavy Oil Residue?

When producing Plastic or Rubber, the byproduct Heavy Oil Residue is calculated per minute and displayed in the byproducts summary so you can route it to Fuel Generators or Petroleum Coke sinking.
