Frequently Asked Questions — SBC Calculation Mechanics
Why does an 88-rated card in an 84-rated SBC save so many coins?
Because EA's squad rating calculation includes an excess correction term: Excess = Sum(Rating_i - Average). An 88-rated card creates a huge excess surplus (+4.0 above an 84 mean) which gets added directly back to the team raw score, allowing you to fill remaining slots with inexpensive 83-rated cards.
Can I use 79 or 80 rated cards in an 85 rated SBC to save coins?
Rarely. Low rated cards pull down the arithmetic average severely without generating any positive excess correction, which forces you to insert multiple 90+ rated cards (which are exponentially more expensive) just to break even.
Does card position or chemistry matter for Squad Rating in SBCs?
No. Individual player positions and chemistry have zero mathematical effect on the overall Squad Rating. Only the numeric OVR rating printed on the card is factored into the formula.
